Plant City has a long rich history of family owned farms and businesses. The strawberry history and local pride for the city is everywhere. It's a city large enough to offer what you need and still keep the down home country feel. I hope the folks there never stop saying Sir & Ma'am.
Make sure to stop in at Fred's market for a good home cooked meal and The Parkesdale Market for everything strawberry. It doesn't get more "family" and "down home" than these two places.

Plant City is a nice town.
Plant City is a nice town. We were there to attend the Reba concert at the strawberry festival. There were plenty of places to eat. The Holiday Inn Express is a wonderful place to stay. The event was easy to find and the locals were very friendly. 🍓

I was born here but just returning to visit son's grave.
I was born here but just returning to visit son's grave. During strawberry season they have a festival but haven't attended in many years (I even competed for strawberry queen but the pageant is mainly for local entertainment). The best strawberries are grown here but can be purchased in many stores (I get them on the east coast.) The town is named after Henry Bradley Plant who helped the railway system grow. Anyone interested in railway may want to check out a railway museum but built after my time there so can't give details
Ok so we had to get the house tented for termites(fun, right) and I booked us two nights at the townplace suites in Plant City. Let me tell you if you have family/friends come into town to visit, this is the spot to stay. Very inexpensive, super clean, spacious rooms, yummy free breakfast, free coffee all day that is better then starbucks, and the friendliest staff ever. This will definitely be our go to spot for out of town guests.
Breakfast was good. We stayed there the night before our cruise out of Tampa. It was a little pricey but close to our port. We always try to stay at a Hampton Inn because we know what to expect and they are always very nice.
When we first got there to check in, they didn't show a reservation through Booking.com. They rented us a room anyway. Not sure we will go through Booking.com again.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The dining area was very clean and well stocked. I don't plan to visit Tampa again but if I did I would definitely stay here.
And wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Awesome all the way around
The staff was very helpful. The hotel was clean and quiet. Rebecca was very understanding with an issue we had and did her best to help. The hotel is also walking distance to a Publix plaza, a WAWA, and Starbucks.
The room was dirty. I paid $300.00 and the sheets were filthy. I had a two bedroom and both beds were dirty if it hadn’t been so late at night and I wasn’t worn out I would have went to a different hotel.
