Bangor is a great location for an outdoors person. You're not that far from Baxter State Park, Acadia National Park, and Camden Hills State Park. There is both flatwater and whitewater paddling. Rock climbing in Clifton, Acadia, and Camden. There are good running/biking/cross country skiing trails in Bangor, and Orono/Old-Town.
